I am running for Mayor of Santa Ana because I love this city and its people, and we deserve transparent and accountable leadership.
The People's Mayor Campaign
My name is Benjamin Vazquez. I have been an SAUSD high school teacher for over 21 years and I'm the current Santa Ana city councilmember for Ward 2. I'm running for mayor of Santa Ana because we need leadership that centers all of our families and residents in the city. We need a people’s Mayor that fights for housing justice, police accountability, investment in youth, and government transparency.
As a councilmember, I’m proud to have supported policies that ensure working families and immigrants are able live and thrive in Santa Ana. Our city has made great progress in the last four years, but special interests with deep pockets are attempting to dismantle the positive change we have made for working families under the leadership of the current Mayor.
Our families deserve a city that centers them first, where solutions come after critical thought and not reactionary political gain. We deserve a city where our children are centered and not political pawns for the benefit of others. Building coalitions with the school board and County Supervisor is of utmost importance to meet these challenges and I will make this happen. We need to continue to put this city on a path to healthier families, healthier communities, and more opportunities for our young people to succeed.
Campaign Platform
I’m running for Mayor to improve government transparency and accountability. As a Councilmember, I have fought tirelessly to ensure we have a city hall that truly centers neighborhood character, families and residents. Our campaign is people-powered, not bought by special interests with deep pockets. And I have demonstrated with my voting record.
